Read, review, and analyze everything the client has ever produced while consuming as many insights, idiosyncrasies, and pieces of information you can get your hands on about the market the client is in and the competitors they’re up against. Next, ask the most meaningful questions you can think of to the smartest people in the industry (the customers) and mix that in with what you hear from those who know the organization inside and out (the workforce.) Then, take that impossibly large mountain of stuff, sort and sift through it, scratch your head in wonder, and re-sort and rummage through it some more. Now, with just a precious handful of words, describe the one thing that only the client can promise, the mental scaffolding it takes to build it, and do it all in a way no one else had thought to consider. That’s brand strategy. And it’s awesome!
